Dennis Cornish, the 2017 BOMA SF Engineer of the Year, is an exemplary engineer, leader, and role model here in the San Francisco Engineering community.  As Chief Engineer at Shorenstein’s 50 California Street project, Dennis has proven time and time again he is an invaluable resource for his team, the building’s tenants, contractors working in the building, and the ownership.  He contributes to the overall success of the building in so many ways;

  • Dennis has developed a number of energy saving ideas during his tenure at 50 California, most recently his development and implementation of a static pressure reset program that saved 600,000 Kwh annually and improved the overall operation and comfort level in the building. This project was featured on the Department of Energy’s website as a showcase project and he was awarded the Shorenstein Outstanding Achievements in Energy Award for his work.
  • Dennis is also a true mentor and leader who is incredibly passionate about his work. Dennis has mentored a number of apprentices through the ranks during his time as a chief engineer and many of them have turned out to be outstanding engineers and are thriving today.  He has also mentored a number of Journeymen Engineers into leadership roles who have themselves become Chief Engineers and leaders in the real estate and engineering community.
  • Dennis also has taken a leadership role for us as his client and is invaluable resource for the other Shorenstein Chief Engineers to look to in understanding our needs and what they need to do be successful as a Shorenstein Chief.
  • Dennis also orchestrated an incredible lobby remodel project and was there every step of the way to help resolve technical issues that came up during the project, make sure all systems were functional and that the project was a huge success.

Dennis is an outstanding asset and we are proud of all his accomplishments, Congratulations, Dennis!
