In the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, the population of Houston experienced many unavoidable disruptions from their normal lives. During IFMA’s World Workplace, IFMA members volunteered to make life a little better for the citizens of Houston.

The Oaks Dads Club (ODC), a youth sports nonprofit offering baseball, soccer and ASA softball for children ages 4-16, sustained flooding that devastated their main clubhouse and baseball fields. A day before the World Workplace exposition, IFMA volunteers got on a bus and traveled to the ODC to lend a hand.

Facility managers are a special group with various levels of expertise, ranging from skilled carpenters to unskilled laborers with positives attitudes. The IFMA community service group installed door frames, doors, installed paneling in the clubhouse and replaced red clay dirt on three baseball fields.

Thank you IFMA for the opportunity to assist the local community where your conference is held.
