Hurricane Sandy made landfall on the East Coast on October 29, 2012. One of the hardest hit areas was Staten Island, New York. Dominick DeRubbio, Able’s East Coast Safety Manager, called Staten Island his home for the past 25 years. After witnessing the devastation from his Manhattan home, he knew help would be needed. In the days after the storm, Dominick and his girlfriend Samantha created a group called “Save Our Shores,” a social media group that identified needs of disaster victims. Dominick and Samantha worked to identify and deliver much-needed supplies to residents in disaster torn areas. In addition to supplies, they raised $12,000, which was used to purchase gift cards for disaster victims. The gift cards were purchased from local stores impacted by the storm.

Able salutes Dominick and Samantha for their dedication to service and the people of Staten Island.
